Before I go, here's a photo of my favorite dress of the moment. I made this for pretty girl Mya, a size 5. It's supposed to have ruffled sleeves but somehow I forgot to sew it before I finish the seams with bias tape. I still think it's cute though and simply love that fans/scales print :)

Pattern Review : Macy Dress and pdf Sewing Pattern Giveaway!

As promised in the previous post, I'm back with another pattern review from Petite Kids Boutique and this time I  sewed the Macy Dress!

When choosing the pattern I went straight to a pattern that includes a zipper option as I really, really want to learn the various ways of installing one. I tell you, after sewing hundreds of buttonholes for custom orders I am so sick of it I desperately need a different closure technique! Now, don't get me wrong, buttons are cute! But I personally find zipper easier to use when dressing the kiddos. If only the sewing of one is not as scary!

The construction of this dress is pretty straightforward, easy peasy. I sewed size 5T, a nice loose fitting, drop waist dress great for the active girl.

If you're scared of zipper, use the button option. I love it when pattern designers clearly show me step-by-step for both options. The zipper option for the Macy dress is using invisible (concealed) zipper and Wong (the designer) shows you how to do it when the dress is fully lined. I learned SO much from this pattern!! I feel like a "real" seamstress now that I know how to insert invisible zipper that is neatly sandwiched between the main and lining fabric, so cool!

Last weekend, the big family went to Port Dickson for a short getaway on the sandy beaches! It was a blast especially for the kids. I took the opportunity to take some photos of the lil model on the beach. 5 minutes was all I have before she screamed for her swimsuit lol!

All in all, as previously confirmed, Petite Kids sewing patterns are indeed easy to use and the designer herself is very friendly and helpful. I had fun sewing the Ceci Shorts and the Macy Dress, thank you so much Wong! :)

Double The Good News, Triple The Giveaways!!

Hello lovelies!!! How are you feeling today? I hope everyone is as upbeat as me! :D

Last Sunday, as I logged on to my Facebook page I was greeted with a pleasant surprise as Lovemelots Creations reached 2000 likers, yeay! I'm so happy and it occured to me that I have never celebrated fb page milestones here on my blog (when we reach 100, 200, 500, 1000 likes, you get the picture lol)...So I figured perhaps its a great time to celebrate as it coincides with the new year.

Then yesterday, I was again blessed with good news very early in the morning when I logged on to my university's student portal ( notice how both have something to do with news from the Internet? We are indeed in the year 2012! :P )...I received my semester result!!! As always I share it here mainly for my children and also for friends and family reading this blog.

Alhamdulillah......I am forever thankful that whatever effort I put in plus never ending du'a and prayer from everyone that matters in my life (especially my mother)...I managed! Business Research Methods is definitely a downer for me, it was unexpected, I must have done something wrong in my finals there. Nonetheless, even though the result is not as good as last semester, I am still very much happy because I've lamented how stressful this semester had been with four advanced courses....

Birthday Giveaway Winners!

Yeay, we got winners! 94 entries altogether, with so many sweet and wonderful birthday wishes (some are funny too! lol). Thank you friends for participating and commenting, I really, truly appreciate it.

With large number of entries, I could not manage to print out the names and let my girls choose the winner as in previous giveaway. So I had no choice but to rely on the good 'ol random.org. I first listed the entries in Excel Spreadsheet to get the assigned number or entries.

Destash : Vintage Pattern Giveaway!

Hello friends! :)

I am destashing my vintage patterns. These are patterns I won off eBay in 2003, they came in a big box with over 60 vintage patterns of various conditions. I've resold a few on eBay but still have many leftover, taking up space in my sewing room.

So I decided to host a giveaway of these two groups. I made sure each group has a mix of adult, children and costume patterns. Most of these have been used and cut. I just don't have the energy to sort thru to see if they are complete but the few I checked are fine. They all have the instruction leaflet intact.

Who might find use in these? Well if you've never used a commercial pattern this is a good way to practice for FREE before you decide to buy the latest designs. If you sew, there are a few good retro patterns that might see a revival with your magical, designer touch ;) If you don't sew, you can always win this for someone you know would use it.

One group will be for a fellow Malaysian and another goes to my lucky International friend.

Goodbye Blessed 2009 and Giveaway Winner!!!

There, all my sewing in 2009. I only started in May, so I'm still amazed how did I manage to sew all those??

Still, 2009 was a great year for me, I can't complaint about anything. I thank God everyday for giving me the chance to experience this beautiful life and especially for my two precious daughters.

And I welcome 2010 with open arms!! With many adventures to come, I look forward to a colourful life in the new year.
