Pleated Skirt for Aisha

In between sewing custom order dresses for my customers, I took a break, like, for 1-2 hours to sew up something simple for my girls. If I don't do that, they keep pestering me with their requests, I could go crazy! So some skirts would pacify them...for awhile lol

Just a simple pleated, cheerleader style skirt for my sweet Aisha. She wanted one to match the hat I made her. The result looks a bit stiffy coz I did not cut the contrasting print and sew rectangles like what Maya prescribed in her simple instruction for making this skirt. I just simply top stitch the polkadot print on top of a long rectangle of the main print. It works the same but naturally mine is bulkier.

Oh well...it doesn't really matter when the girls are this happy, right?

Hanan took one look at her big sis's new skirt and immediately ask about her similar skirt I made before. I blogged about it here. Hers is in denim and so cute for this style of skirt. I made Hanan a new skirt too last week but that will be for the next blog post.

I also managed to finish these camera strap covers ordered by Azah months ago. Now that my good friend Maya is back sewing and listing some camera strap covers in the shop, I am temporarily closing orders for these.

I am so happy Maya is back, we have this unsaid pact that if one of us is unable to sew (due to work demands etc etc) at least we can pass on customer queries to another one of us who is sewing. So, you see, even though we're operating a separate business, with our own separate labels, we are sewing similar stuff. But instead of competing with each other, and be all sour, we turned this into a cooperation thingy, which is healthy. I remember what Maya once said to me, there's no point hoarding the orders, we are so small (one woman operations), it's not like we are able to sew up all the orders on our own if we get say, hundreds of them! Let's share and help each other. So true Mai, I am so lucky to have a level headed, mature sewing friend like you *hugs*

Last but not least, I've drawn up some fun plans for this blog based on your response in the previous post. Thank you so much for the insight, at least I have an idea what my audience is looking for. And BIG hugs to you who are keeping me company on this blog. Will blog about what I have planned soon. Stay tuned!

I'm Still Here!

Yup, still alive...only extremely busy...just a quick update to keep this blog alive. I think I can only be back to my old craft blogger self after the Eid celebration.

Here are a few items I finished in between sewing custom order dresses. These were ordered way before the dresses, thank God I managed.

I love this Curvy Clutch ordered by Yana. Just the right size for all the girly necessities. Pattern by Keykalou.
And more Camera Straps Slipcovers, absolute eye candy :)

That's all for now, I will soon post some dress pictures, they are all so darling.

Thank you for dropping by friends, take care! :)

Chocolate Pie Top n More Camera Strap Covers

Why oh why does the weekend fly by so swiftly? It’s Monday again, another new week, another reason to worry why I can’t get many things done on the weekend like I’m supposed to…hmmm…typical me.

Here's a top I made for Hanan a few weeks back. I call it the Chocolate Pie Top. It’s a tad too long for her but not long enough to be a dress. I wanted leggings to go with it but the little miss was adamant on wearing her jeans.

My date was postponed yesterday so we went grocery shopping instead. See how her little highness enjoys eating her doughnut while being royally pushed in the shopping cart? :P

I also finished 2 more camera strap covers. The guitar print is for a man. Is it manly nough? I love that print though J

So what do you do after all those shopping and not enough sewing?

Eat, of course! J

Have a glorious week ahead lovely peeps! :D

Some Sewing Pics and Life Big Update

Hye all! Oh how I miss this blog so, so much!! If you follow me on Twitter you'd probably heard my constant whining of how harried my life is at the moment. Too many things too do, too many changes in such a short time! Well, the big update is of course, enrolling for my full time MBA program this coming Monday (5th July)  AND the big move to our new home the next day! Phewww....! Lots and lots of things to do before the events and yes, lots and lots of adjustments to make after the events.

So, my sewing naturally suffers some setback, no time at all for leisurely sewing for me-self and especially bad with meeting datelines. I'd like to apologize to my patiently waiting customers, I really truly appreciate your understanding! I managed to finish Feena's second dress for her baby, in the sweetest Meadowsweet prints by Sandi Henderson. This time I introduced little pleats on the sundress instead of gathers.

I also managed to get these two Reversible Camera Strap Covers for the lovely Ida and Hui San. I hope you gals like 'em, they are comfortably padded too :)

Off to get more form filling, medical checkup, packing and moving done! Till later lovely readers, have a wonderful, creative (and not as harried) day! :)

Camera Strap Cover Samples

Responding to a custom request and the call to create by my very talented good friend Maya,  I made not one  but four of these camera strap covers.

I learned A LOT from making these. One thing for sure, looks can be deceiving! It's not as easy as I thought! Lots of measurement, padding, tube turning and bulky seams issues. Padded it for comfort and be prepared to face a hard time getting the bulky seams to move on the sewing machine lol. But I really wanted it to work, and as Maya had linked in her blog, there are just endless possibilities with fabric combo when dressing up your camera!

I don't have a photo with these straps attached to the camera coz I only have one camera and obviously using it to snap these photos lol. So these are Lovemelots Camera Strap Covers, I made them in 2 types.

Type 1

COMFY v1
One Main Fabric, Non Reversible, Softly Padded
This type is not reversible but have the comfort of soft padding inside (courtesy of fusible fleece) which is easier on the neck. I put Version 1 (v1) coz I'm sure I can improve on this design one day and come out with v2 :D

Type 2

REVERSIBLE COMBO v1
Combination of 2 fabrics, Reversible, NO padding, fully lined
This type uses 2 fabric combo, reversible, but not padded (as the padding is too bulky to turn the tube for this design). However there are 2 layers of soft flannel interlining inside the strap covers, making it a little bit more meaty to the touch. The outer fabrics are also fully interfaced for stability.

I'm offering these in the shop, will upload perhaps later today. Products can be custom ordered and I will also add ready to ship items in the shop from time to time.

Honestly, I'm way behind schedule with sewing as things at work plus getting ready for my study leave, are driving me crazy! I'm grateful I managed to complete these last night right into the wee hours. The little miss Hanan was of course like a baby owl stayed up to keep mommy company. Here at 12 midnite, she refused to go to sleep and asked me to snap her photo lol

Before I go, I'd like to say THANK YOU for all the birthday wishes in my giveaway. Some make me chuckle, some make me reflect on me, and most of them are loving, soothing words which I truly appreciate! You gals are the best, 3 more days before the draw, fingers crossed!

Til then, have a great day lovely peeps *hugs*!
