Lots of Accessories Sewing

I have been sewing accessories like a mad woman this past few weeks. And I took some photos to document 'em here. Some are customer orders some are gifts for friends. They did consume a lot of my time, as much as I love the outcome of these, I have decided to stop taking custom orders for accessories and only sell ready made ones whenever I make them. I am now focusing on sewing little girl dresses only.

Roxanna Bag

I was very excited when I was given the opportunity to become one of the pattern testers for iThinkSew.com

I woke up with a start last night and could not believe it was only 1.30 am and went  straight to my sewing room to sew this cute Roxanna Bag. I made the sling strap option and I could vouch how easy the pattern is to sew. And the result, I just love it!

All in all, I rate this pattern as Excellent! You can always opt for a normal short strap if sling bag is not your style. It is due to be released by the designer soon so keep an eye on it :)

Before I go, an update about my lil sister. She will be undergoing a major surgery either this Tuesday or Thursday. They had to clear up the OR just for her surgery coz the docs said when they operate on her it might take the whole day. We are happy there is at least some progress for her, we never stop praying for a miracle. I would like to thank all of you wonderful friends for all your prayers and soothing words, those who emailed me and friendly sms's, I truly appreciate them may God bless all of you thank you! *hugs*

I Worry Therefore I Sew...Passport Cover

I am, by nature, a very, very restless person. Can't sit still and have a whirlwind of a brain. And with that comes the constant worrying (and also proneness to being depressed). Add free flow of caffeine loaded coffee, stress is an understatement. I worry about everything - my exam (which is next week, eek!), my little sister, my girls, my money (which I don't have erkkk), oh the list is endless. I needed to take a breather.

So last night, I took 1 hour break from speed reading to de-stress a bit and sew myself this passport cover. And that fabric? Ooooohhhh...what a perfect way to sooth myself, so pretty! It's Kokka Trefle print in the most delicious, soothing combo of pink, grey and soft pistachio green. I bought it few months back from Sue at MyBotang ( pssst Sue! I want more! :D ).

 

I fussy cut the fabric to get that front print placement, and fussy cutting means lots of small leftover pieces. So I patched the sleeves inside with leftover pieces to get those lace border as shown. I also found an old Egyptair boarding pass in my passport so just to demonstrate, the picture showed how I could just slip it in the side pocket. Me, being a klutz (it's true, hubby would attest to that, he knows how clumsy his wife is lol), always misplaced stuff and the last thing I wanna lose at the airport is the boarding pass (it happened before! :P).

All in all, I can't believe I let my passport went naked all this while. This passport holder makes it look so much better and not to mention the girly print makes it chic! Errrmmm....now I really need to board a plane just to carry it, a vacation perhaps?? (hint hint hubby dearest!)

I am in better spirits now, happy to get back to immersing myself in books. Thank you for reading my friends and stay beautiful! :)

Trial, Tribulations & Laptop Sleeve

I've been awfully quiet, so unlike me. But many things are happening and real life takes over.

My family is saddened with devastating news of my little sister (the youngest) Lin, diagnosed with a rare type of cancerous spinal tumor. The scientific name - sarcoma something - scares me but at least it exists in the medical world and not a totally unknown condition, even though the doctors said it's like one in a million. She is undergoing scans and tests at the moment as we wait for her latest MRI result. She is so thin now, with so many trips to the GH Neuro ward, she had to take a break from college.

To cheer her up, we organised a double birthday celebration for her and my Aisha. As usual we had it at my parents' but this time at their new home 25 kilometers away from Putrajaya. My dad had recently retired and moved to Dengkil. It was a wonderful event and I could see how my worried parents cheered up a bit when all their children and grandchildren are around. The kids enjoyed it the most of course as in my family, whenever there is a birthday party, all four grandchildren get presents to avoid tears and tantrums lol...My dad said, next year we'd have to combine all four birthdays in one party coz he's retired now and not making as much money to buy so many presents hahaha...

For my beloved little sister, I made her a laptop sleeve. I chose Keykalou pattern coz her patterns are always reliable and quick to whip up. It's bright and cheerful, with hearts a plenty to remind her how much she is loved. I'm glad she loves it.

I never stop praying for my sister now. Hoping that she'd get through this ordeal to enjoy a long and fulfilling life ahead of her. I have to be brave because she needs the strength of her family. We all love you so much Lin, get well soon my little sis *hugs*

Crafty Swap - Thank You Aim!

Yeay!! I received this fabulous bag from the gorgeous Ms Aim and my, am I loving it or what?!! I love the two color sides and as in the picture the seam binding is just so neat, I can't stop admiring it. It's a large bag and perfect for me to bring shopping, sorry Mr Plastic Bag I no longer favour you :P

Pondok Craft Charity Drive

I just had to squeeze in a few hours to sew up some of these zipper pouches for the back to school charity project organised by Kak Ayu over at Pondok Craft. Zipper pouch is the perfect project for me as I could quickly sew them up, one or two every morning before I leave for class. And a great way to use up my ever growing fabric scraps.

I hope these would brighten up the days of the boys and girls at the orphanage. Wish I could hug each one of them, sending these with thoughts of love and prayers for them.

Tutorial : Little Girl Sling Pouch

Hello everyone! I am super excited today to participate in Mayya’s wonderful Inspire To Create series over at Sew Chic And Unique. I must say all the previous bloggers have wowed me with so many inspiring projects, and I feel very honored when Mayya invited me to participate. I must confess that I am a diehard fabric fan. I hoard fabrics like crazy thus sewing is the next logical thing to do. However I wanted to more than just churning out clothes or bags. I wanted to share my passion. 

When I first started this blog, my main intention was to document my sewing for my girls so that when they grow up they could come back anytime to see what mommy sewed for them as well as read the little tid bits I wrote. I am also hoping to inspire them to be more creative and sew if they want to. 

Later, as my readers grow, I feel tremendous joy to be able to share my sewing adventure with so many wonderful people on blogville. Thank you all for stopping by and keeping me company as I step on the sewing machine pedal in this little studio of mine and blog about it :)

Today, I would like to share a tutorial on how I made this cute Sling Pouch for my girls. Let’s get started shall we? :)

First, the pattern. The pouch pattern is a simple bowl shape of approximately 6 x 5 inches you can always draw yourself. If you’d like to skip the drawing part, feel free to download my pattern here.

Use the pattern to cut 2 outer fabric, 2 lining fabric, 2 interfacing, 2 quilt batting (optional). I am quilting my outer pieces, you can skip this part if you don’t want to quilt it. In the above picture I already interfaced the outer pieces.

Next, if you are quilting the outer pieces, take the batting and the outer pieces and quilt through all layers. You can either use adhesive spray to temporarily bond it for quilting or just pin since it is such a small piece. If you're wondering this is the spray I used (I bought it at Craftworld) :

Next steps are shown in these pictures with additional steps marked in * ( the ones I forgot to take pics :P )

* Repeat with the Lining Pieces

* Turn the pieces right side out, press along the top opening, then topstitch all around, sewing the gap shut.

Now, your new sling pouch is ready to be modeled :

And perfect for storing little treasures! (It's something Aisha sewed if you're wondering and I have no idea what it is lol)

I'm Still Here!

Yup, still alive...only extremely busy...just a quick update to keep this blog alive. I think I can only be back to my old craft blogger self after the Eid celebration.

Here are a few items I finished in between sewing custom order dresses. These were ordered way before the dresses, thank God I managed.

I love this Curvy Clutch ordered by Yana. Just the right size for all the girly necessities. Pattern by Keykalou.

Candy Bar Handphone Pouch & More Totes

Good morning! Ain't Sundays great? :)

Just a quick post on a few more long overdue projects I managed to complete last week. The above handphone pouch was custom made for a friend at work. I designed the pouuch loosely based on a purchased pouch. She got so many complement of the pouch that she came back and asked me to make 2 more pheww! *kena sabar ya Lin, macam biasa I lems...hehe*

This is a simple tote I whipped up for my domestic helper's little girl. She went back to her country for good after a 3 year loyal service with me. I very sadly let her go as her mother, who's taking care of her little girl is sick and she's needed to look after Putri. We keep constant contact though, she is practically family to us. Thank you Nur...

And this beauty is what I call The Love Tote! In glorious Amy Butler splendour! Another custom order for Lin, serves as her lug around bag as she tote her baby stuff. Love this fabric!

I'm off with the girls for a special first date with a wonderful blog friend. Will blog about the meetup soon. Am also planning to write a bit on our new home. Nothing much to show but I think it's good to document our move so that my girls would not forget where they live before. And after that, more sewing as I have so many overdue orders to sew, queue fitted bedsheet, pillow covers, a clutch, dresses and more dresses!
