Sweet Summer Baby Dress for My Niece

Last week I uploaded this dress picture on my Facebook page (on mannequin) and many fell in love with the black and white theme. My sister in law wanted her daughter to wear this theme for her birthday celebration and I made a Sweet Summer Baby Dress for my niece Widad.

The dress was born from many customer requests in baby size. This is the first time I play around with patterns (I usually sew using purchased sewing pattern and stick to it with minimal changes). I think I am now more confident on altering existing patterns to achieve a design I have in mind. But not grading the pattern to make bigger or smaller sizes. That, I have yet to find a good formula to do it and honestly I am so afraid of messing up the formula/sizing I simply stick to the sizes available in the sewing pattern.

My niece wore the dress on her birthday. We had a small family celebration at my parents in law's place before we returned to Putrajaya. It was a simple yet happy party with the neighborhood kids joining and enjoying the food....it was a real good family time, our way :)

I am happy to finally able to snap some photos of the dress modeled. Now that my youngest is almost 5, I find myself without a model for baby sizes...here's my niece on the phone with her paternal grandma, asking for a present! :)

The two cousins are so close, practically bff......I love this photo taken by hubby of them chewing on apples...those expressions! LOL!

For Fear of Our Safety

Few days ago my peaceful life had a rude interruption when I received 2 comments from a crazy hater, both here and on my personal blog. My maternal instinct kicked in and I deleted my personal blog.

However, this blog was a labor of love. I have written so many things related to my passion for sewing as well as my family and the journey with my late sister. I just could not delete this blog....I will not disclose what the comment is all about but let's just say it's definitely not from someone who sews. I guess Google brought him here....I have no idea what he is trying to achieve by sending those threatening comments directed to my little family. I have to do what it takes to keep my girls safe. From now on, this blog's comments will be moderated. I hate to do that but I have no choice.

That said, I will not be blogging much till I finish all my Raya sewing. Ramadhan is near so does my annual "sewing room retreat" :)

Thank you for still taking the time to drop by my humble blog. I update regularly now on my Facebook page. Be sure to Like us there to keep updated! Before I go, here's a tile of my labor of love on these adorable cuties, pictures sent from valued customers/friends. Lovemelots now is everything I want it to be thanks so much to you! :)

Darling Sundresses Done And Bias Tape Woes

I finished making these two darlings yesterday. They are for a loyal customer cum good virtual friend, the sweetest lady 'Ainn, meant for her 2yo sweet little princess. I just realised I sewed my tags on different sides on the 2 dresses lol....well, the little quirks that define handamade!

I had fun making the dresses as the serger made it so much easier and faster too. My only woes are with attaching self made bias tapes to the armsyche. Am I alone or does anybody else face the same problems with attaching double fold bias tapes at a curve?

I tried hard not to stretch the tapes as it reaches the curves but still at one time the stitching failed to catch the folded tape at the back as I topstitched. Help! If you know a good a tutorial on this I really appreciate a link. I saw Amy Karol video tute on the subject but it did not mention curves.

With the help of the trusted seam ripper I managed to finish attaching the trim, but know that I need to learn the secret to sewing bias tape on a curve. Thanks for reading ladies, today is Monday and I've a lecture going. See y'all fabulous peeps later! :)

I'm Selling My Work - Lovemelots Creations

I get many inquiries and requests from lovely people to purchase my work. I've made the decision to share my passion for this craft with others. I wanted my work to have its own label. So, Lovemelots Creations was born.

I'll be selling mostly bags and clutches which I love making so much (and I have so many already, need to sell those I keep creating). I will also be taking custom orders for girls' clothing on select style. Other than that, I will occasionally sell sewing supplies and notions including fabrics (I sometimes need to destash)!

I prefer to work closely with my customers. I offer an exciting array of fabric combos to choose from and we'll have fun creating. Communication is key. Email me or even come to my house to discuss fabric options is you're nearby :)

Meanwhile, I'm working on a dedicated shopblog for Lovemelots and also setting up my Etsy store for International customers. You'll see the link once it's up.

Thank you so much for supporting me thus far, it means a lot to me and keeps my craft going.

Fingers' crossed!
